Lisa's introduction to the Dublin Cookery

I actually got to go to cooking class tonight with Sheila and her Aunt Carol Ann!

Carol Ann (Barb's sister) arrived this morning early and, like all of Sheila's family, seemed to be relatively unaffected by jet lag.

This is unlike myself who seems to be affected not only by my own jet-lag but others as well. As soon as we rolled back into the house after a quick trip to the Dublin Airport this morning (the flight from the US gets in around 5 a.m.), I was out like a light for a quick two hours.

We took Carol Ann up to Newgrange this morning. I did a bit of work at the coffee shop there and actually ran into a parent from Southwest Montessori (the preschool in Minneapolis where both of our kids went!).

Sheila took a few great photos and said that the tour was a bit better this time as it was less windy.

We had a bit of time to spare after the tour and before we had to pick up Johnny so we headed into Slane for lunch. Check out the little song/video on the link in the sentence before, it is classic.

We should have taken Sheila's sisters to Slane when they were here and when we were at Newgrange because at the center of town there are four identical Georgian houses standing each on its own private corner, facing the others. The four houses and four streets form an octagon. This feature is known as The Square. Local lore claims there were four sisters who despised each other but lived in each of the houses to keep an eye on each other.

Tonight Sheila had an extra entry into her cooking class and took me along with Carol Ann. It was as fabulous as she says. I will post recipes later, suffice it to say that it was a tad bit easier of a cooking night than Sheila's parents had last week so I could also be a bit social and relax. We made an excellent summer chicken mix, three separate salads and eclairs. Best of all we met Angela who lives in Sandymount -- another little village I've been trying to get to since we've been here!

Here are some pictures for your enjoyment. Videos of the excellent chef/instructor to come. Notice the pictures through the great ceiling mirror so those in the audience can see the cooking techniques.
