Human Shamrock

A high school in our neighborhood (Blackrock College) got together yesterday to set a Guinness World Record!

More than 800 students donned green T-shirts made specially for the attempt, arranged themselves in the shape of a giant shamrock and held the position for five minutes to adhere to the guidelines set down by officials from Guinness World Records in London.

We, too are getting ready for the St. Patrick's Day festival here, starting next week! There is a ton to do over the four day festival including a 5k I'm considering!

Maggie's friend Julia and her family are coming here on Saturday morning and are staying through the festival.

Here are our tentative plans for their stay:

Saturday through Monday we are heading down to the general Cork area. On suggestion from Ann Marie we are staying in a little town on the coast, Cobh (pronounced "Cove"). Sheila and I want to see the town Kinsale which may or may not be very interesting to kids as it has sort of a "foodie" reputation. So I'm not sure exactly how touristy we will likely be. Julia et al. expressed interest in seeing Blarney Castle which we will probably do (although we did kiss the stone a couple of years ago--look at this link and how little the kids were! Also you can see my pictures of the gougan beara!-- and, as can be attested by the loquacity of this blog, it worked, at least on me!).

More interesting updates to come and Sheila seems to be planning a blog entry!!!
