More of The Stretch and Eighty Percents

The weather is definitely changing here, for the better. The days are long and, at least for this week, sunny. It is still chilly, but from a Minnesotan's perspective, 45 to 50 degrees is practically shorts weather!

It was a normal (great) Tuesday here as we all settled back into life in Dublin. Maggie got her trimester grades back and did quite well despite missing most of the trimester. Johnny had Oscar and Pierce over and was in his element, showing them the little Eiffel Towers he brought home from Paris.

Since we missed the Sunday night viewing of The Voice, we had to stay up late tonight and catch up. Which reminds me of another Eighty Percent observation.

We don't really know the mechanics of The Voice Competition yet but from what we've gleaned so far, contestants get through one round and then head into the "blind auditions" where they sing while the four judges listen with their backs turned to them. If they like the performance that they can hear, they press a button and turn their chair around. The better contestants get more judges to turn around and then, after a pitch is made by each judge to get the contestant on their "team", the contestant chooses.

As I mentioned before, it was obvious that all of the "blind auditions" took place on one day although they were edited and shown over the course of four or five weeks. We could tell because the judges never changed their clothing.

Another curious fact was that Sharon Corr's (one of the judges and member of the band The Corrs) chair was clearly broken. . . When the other judges would press their button and spin their chair around a light on the bottom would light up "I WANT YOU." Hers worked intermittently (!).

My second EightyPercentObservation for you tonight is the sidewalks... Everywhere. It is as though they literally cannot, or do not protect newly poured cement. I see cat paws, dog paws, footsteps etc. etc. etc.
