Out in Dublin?

Sheila and I were just processing how to handle our family status in Dublin...

Should we ALL go to each of our schools to check it out and introduce ourselves, or should we split up and each take a kid and be a little less *ahem* open, feel out the sitch and open up more gradually.

Isn't it weird that we have to think about this sort of thing?

In any case, "Hell to the No!", we decided. As is the case with our friends at Annunciation, the liberal ones who don't give a rat's ass self-select naturally and become our close friends. Since we are there for such a short period of time, we don't have time to wade through the people who may or may not care about sexuality, so why not just go, be out, and meet the cool ones early on?

My cousin, Jackie suggested I do a bit of research to learn a little about the state of politics in Dublin prior to our arrival. A simple Wikipedia search tells me that the Irish are a bit like Minneapolosians in that they are Catholic, but liberal (i.e. they are pro-life).

Here's a quote: "A 2012 survey showed that 73% of Irish people agreed that "same sex marriage should be allowed in the Constitution". Earlier, a 2008 survey showed that 84% of Irish people support civil marriage or civil partnerships for same-sex couples, with 58% supporting full marriage rights in registry offices. The number who believe same-sex couples should only be allowed to have civil partnerships fell from 33% to 26%. A later Irish Times poll put support for same-sex marriage at 63%. A March 2011 The Sunday Times poll showed support for full civil marriage rights at 73%."

Here we come, Dublin!
