Hurling

This was our first weekend day here not all jet lagged. We took it slow and lazed around in the morning and separated later in the afternoon to do a few errands. Maggie and Sheila went into town to look around and grab a book for class. They are reading Private Peaceful which, interestingly, Amazon.com does not sell on the Kindle, nor does Barnes and Noble sell on the Nook, but you CAN buy it on Kindle if you have a UK account. This makes no sense to me. In any case we picked it up at this awesome little shop down in town, Raven Books.

John and I explored the other half of the bike path, which leads straight to the village and the sea.

It was a bit sunnier here today, but still cold and wet (although less wet which is significant).

The big news is, in our attempt to make a life here, Johnny has joined a hurling team! He'll be on the U7 team for the Kilmacud Crokes! Check out the video on that link. It looks awesome and I might have to find an adult team to help assuage losing Galaxy hockey (my team back home through WHAM).  His coach, Colm sent an email that said:

"Drop up to training tomorrow (Sunday) at 10am at the all weather pitch in Kilmacud Crokes. We will loan Johnny a helmet and hurley." We'll be there!

Maggie seems a bit better today after a few phone calls home last night.  Johnny is missing his friends but his loneliness is not quite as palpable.
